Stephen Curry's MVP Season Shares Common Thread With Allen Iverson's

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Stephen Curry's MVP season was one that helped the Warriors assert themselves as the NBA's best team and has them set as the favorite in the NBA Finals. This trip to The Finals is the first of Curry's career and his award-winning season should have him feeling very confident.
The set of circumstances for Curry are unique and his year shares a similarity with one had by former Sixers great Allen Iverson.
Winning MVP can only add pressure for a player leading his team into The Finals for the first time.
Curry will be looking for a much different outcome than the one experienced by Iverson. The Sixers lost to the Lakers 4-1 in the 2001 NBA Finals, Iverson's only appearance on that stage.
To compare their seasons, Iverson averaged 31.1 points, 4.6 assists, 3.8 rebounds and 2.5 steals in his MVP campaign. Curry averaged 23.8 points, 7.7 assists, 4.3 rebounds and two steals.
The Sixers finished the season 56-26 while the Warriors went 67-15.
