A Steamy Start To September

So much for the 'end' of summer! The Delaware Valley could see as many 90 degree readings this week as all of August.
After a sultry Labor Day, more of the same can be expected for Tuesday. The 3 H's will be in full swing, hazy hot and humid. Other than a slight chance of an evening thunderstorm, Tuesday will be mainly dry. Keep an eye to the sky this evening, especially areas to the west of Philadelphia. Despite a break in the humidity on Tuesday, the rest of the week will continue to be hot, with lots of sunshine. On the horizon, we see a big break coming later on Saturday that will plummet temperatures to fall-like numbers.

1785 - A hurricane was responsible for 181 deaths along the Delaware coast, making it onto the
Deadliest Atlantic Tropical Cyclones, 1492 to Present.
1850 - The worst flood known in this arean up to this date. The Schuylkill River rose
higher than ever known before and caused heavy property damage. All bridges above
the Columbia Railroad bridge were swept away. The gas works was flooded and the
city was left in darkness. About 100 lives were lost. The Lehigh River at Bethlehem
