Stars Gather in Philadelphia For Science Fiction Fest 'Comic Con'
By John McDevitt
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- A four-day pop culture expo opens this afternoon at the Pennsylvania Convention Center. The "Philadelphia Comic Con" features celebrities from the world of comic books, fantasy, and science fiction.
Among those who will be on hand is Lou Ferrigno, most famous as the bulked-up superhero alter-ego of David Bruce Banner (Bill Bixby) on the TV series "The Incredible Hulk."
The series, based on a Marvel Comics character, debuted in 1977. Even today, Ferrigno, who played the green creature, is very much remembered by fans.
"You know what's interesting, everybody in the world embraces the Hulk," Ferrigno said this morning from the lobby of his Philadelphia hotel. "And what's interesting is that people are fascinated with power. For some reason you put the green stuff on and it gives you a chance to express. Like 'green with envy,' it's a connection with power."
