Stars At The Shore: PSY

By Veronica Dudo

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. (CBS) - South Korean pop sensation PSY is enjoying tremendous success with his hit song, "Gangnam Style" which has become the most accessed YouTube video of all time. The popular song was released on July 15, 2012 and has generated almost a billion views. The single is also accompanied by a dance that has sparked a global phenomenon. With his newfound international success, PSY has been booked for appearances and performances across the country. He recently performed at Q102's Jingleball at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, followed by an appearance at The Pool After Dark inside Harrah's Resort in Atlantic City.

PSY's humorous music videos--including his "Gangnam Style" dance--have captivated audiences worldwide. Many are intrigued by the "Gangnam Style" dance which is a horse trot that includes pretending to ride a horse, holding reins, spinning a lasso and shuffling your legs in a side gallop. The 34-year-old says he spent a lot of time working on the choreography and came up with the dance through trial and error.

"This was my sixth dance move in Korea so I literally tried every creature of the universe - not just horses. I tried everything and I found it," he explained.

PSY has spent a lot of time in the United States. He attended Boston University and the Berklee College of Music. He says his family is very proud of him and his accomplishments. As his breakout video approaches the milestone of hitting one billion views on YouTube, he says it's hard for him to describe how he feels.

"I really don't have any feelings, it's just strange. It's already too much but it's heading to a billion right now—it's already huge and I have a big concept for the next video." He said.

PSY is estimated to rake in over four million dollars for "Gangnam Style." While he recognizes the historical event he's also setting his sights on the future.

"Whatever I'm planning, how can I beat one billion views anyway?" he asked with a laugh, then added "I'm going to do something new early next year and it will be a lot of fun."

As for his visit to Philadelphia and Atlantic City, he says he didn't have enough time to take in the sights and sounds.

"I went from the airport to the concert venue to here so I didn't experience that much."
