Stars at the Shore: Joe Jonas

By Veronica Dudo

The 22 year old stayed at the Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa where he relaxed, dined and hosted a party at the casino's nightclub, mur.mur.

Joe Jonas along with his older brother Kevin and younger brother Nick formed the hugely successful pop-rock band, Jonas Brothers. From Wyckoff, New Jersey the charming trio became world-wide teen icons with their best-selling albums and sold out international tours. The brothers even starred in their own TV series and movies along the way.

Now, the middle Jo Bro is venturing out on his own having recently announced a new tour with Jay Sean and special guest JoJo; along with a nine date appearance with the European leg of Britney Spears' Femme Fatale Tour.

I caught up with the busy artist to talk about his new album, his upcoming tours and the possibility of the Jonas Brothers collaborating again in the future.

Have you enjoyed being back in New Jersey this weekend?

It's been great! Fun to kind of come here and relax and have some fun--do something like this is kind of a dream come true I'm really, really excited. I have a lot of friends that live out in New Jersey so I was able to see a few of them yesterday. We did this really cool thing at the shore in Seaside Heights and it was pretty cool so now I'm in the casino kind of chilling and we went to the club last night we got to see Kaskade perform it was really fun.

You recently began your solo career; what has been the response to your first two singles?

It's been great--everybody's reaction's been amazing the fact that so many people have just been supporting the project and all the fans that kind of existed with the Jonas Brothers have been really showing their love and support and now kind of going even further this new year listening to the stuff--it's been really great.

How would you describe your forthcoming album due out in October?

Well, the music is a little bit different then the stuff I was doing with my brothers it's a little bit more hip hop, dancy and just kind of a feel-good record. It's something that I've been working on for the past year, I've worked with these producers that I've really looked up to, really loved and looking forward to being able to release it.

You're scheduled to tour with Jay Sean and JoJo how many cities will you be visiting?

We just released the Jay Sean co-headlining tour that I'm going to be on, we're having JoJo open up it's going to be really cool. It's going to be a 19 city tour we're going to be going all over the place and I'm really looking forward to it.

You've said the first CD you ever bought was a Britney Spears album, are you looking forward to joining the European leg of her Femme Fatale Tour?

Yeah, it was the first CD that I ever bought. The funniest thing about that is I was actually in N.J. not too long ago opening up for her and it was my first kind of taste tester of what it would be like, it was really cool. She's an amazing performer still to this day and kind of to have that as something to be looking forward to is going to be really exciting.

Even though you're concentrating on your solo career right now, do you think you and your brothers will ever work together on Jonas Brothers projects again?

Yeah, absolutely. Right now, just focusing on the solo project but when the time is right, we're definitely going to be releasing more Jonas Brothers stuff together.
