Stars At The Shore: DJ Pauly D

ATLANTIC CITY, NJ (CBS) -- The Garden State has been enjoying the national spotlight--thanks to MTV's popular reality TV series, Jersey Shore. The show follows the summer escapes of a group of young adults partying in Seaside Heights. Pauly DelVecchio, known as Pauly D, is one of the shows breakout stars currently pursuing his dream of becoming a celebrity DJ. Over the weekend, he kicked-off his DJ residency at the Pool After Dark in Atlantic City. Casino officials say about five thousand people attended the event to check out the reality celeb's spinning skills.
But before taking the stage, Pauly D talked about his new spin-off series, The Pauly D Project, what it was like touring with pop princess Britney Spears, and his new deal with 50 Cent.
Welcome to Atlantic City. How excited are you to have your first DJ residency here at the Pool After Dark?
So excited, this is like home to me--like everybody I know is here today! I've got one hundred people alone on my guest list, so I can't wait to spin for everybody.
You have your new show, The Pauly D Project. What antics do you get into throughout the season?
Man--I'm excited about my own show. So the world gets to know a little bit more about myself, and my guys that I brought along with me are some crazy guys. They all got some strong personalities, so we get ourselves into some trouble. You can see what it's like behind the scenes being a touring DJ, so I'm excited to show the world that.
Aside from deejaying, what are some of your goals?
Music really is my passion, so I also want to do some producing now. I'm working on an album. The theme song from my show, The Pauly D Project, is "Night of My Life." I produced it along with The Closers, and Dash is the one singing on it, but it's number three on Dance right now on iTunes--I'm excited about that.
Are you starting a new partnership with 50 Cent?
Yes, I'm partnering with him on some new headphones, and I signed with his record label for his album.
Is this a dream come true for you?
Yes, it actually is 100-percent a dream come true. It's been a blessing for me, and I'm loving every minute of it.
What was it like on the Britney Spears tour?
Britney Spears' tour was amazing! That was one of the best things I've ever done in my life, and the fact that Britney Spears even knows I exist is amazing to me.
Will you be taping Jersey Shore this summer?
Yes, I'm excited to go back--I miss Jersey all winter, so summertime comes and I like to head to Jersey with my cast.
