'Star Trek' To Return To Big Screen For 1-Night Special Presentation
By Mark Abrams
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - The cast of Star Trek: The Next Generation, will be back on the big screen for a one-night special presentation this Thursday.
CBS Home Entertainment has re-mastered and edited the series Best of Both Worlds two-part episode and will show it on selected digital movie screens in cooperation with Fathom Events as part of a national fundraiser for the American Red Cross.
The movie features the most watched cliffhanger in series television, ending the third season for Star Trek: The Next Generation, and the most anticipated opening of the series' fourth season.
Actor/director Jonathan Frakes, who grew up in the Lehigh Valley and now lives in Los Angeles, says the episode was a turning point for his character, Commander William Riker.
"A very special episode and I think probably one of the great cliffhangers in the history of series television, because the audiences that we saw during the summer were so furious that they didn't know what was going to happen to Picard between the end of the third season and the beginning of the fourth," Frakes explains.
