Stage Construction For "Made In America" Concert Underway

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Stage construction on the Ben Franklin Parkway began on Saturday for next weekend's Jay-Z "Made In America" concert and is expected to continue all week.
Greg Canzanese, who is the IA Steward in charge of the stage hands this week, says they're also building a couple of side stages as well as a fence that will surround the concert zone.
"The whole area's gonna be double-fenced. So you've obviously got two fences so if somebody climbs over one fence, you gotta climb over another fence before getting seen jumping in."
He says the stage is expected to be up by Tuesday, but workers will be here up until the first day of the show to install lights and check the sound. He explained why preparations take such a long time.
"Because you're starting from nothing. There's nothing here. You start from scratch."
Canzanese says this stage will be bigger than the one typically constructed for the city's 4th of July Welcome America celebration.
They are also constructing an archway entrance to the concert zone on 22nd Street.
