Staffer At Valley Forge Military Academy Fired For Serving Booze To Cadets

By Kim Glovas

WAYNE, Pa. (CBS) -- A guidance counselor at Valley Forge Military Academy has been fired for inappropriate behavior with two cadets.

Valley Forge Military Academy has terminated Symantha Hicks, a guidance counselor at the school, after she allegedly provided alcohol to two cadets last Saturday.

The school found out about the incident on Sunday and suspended Hicks while an internal investigation was conducted.

The military academy also notified the Radnor Township police department, which was also investigating the matter.  And the parents of the two students were also notified.

On Tuesday,  the administration at VFMA said it had enough evidence to fire Hicks for violating the school's code of conduct, ethics, and alcohol policy.  The school notified all parents and guardians about the matter on Wednesday.

In a statement, the school said such conduct is rare and not indicative of the academy or college community.
