NORRISTOWN, Pa. (CBS) -- A lot of places are underwater after Tuesday's downpours from Tropical Storm Isaias and that includes the Elmwood Park Zoo. Water came rushing after flash flooding hit the zoo in Norristown.

Zoo staff quickly worked to move the animals to safety. The zoo says 31 animals were moved as crews placed sandbags and removed fallen trees.
Storm Damage to Elmwood Park Zoo- 8/4 For hours on end the zoo moved 31 animals, laid sandbags, and waded in knee-deep water to manually push logs and branches away from exhibits in order to prevent further damage. Offices were frantically cleared out, education vehicles moved to higher ground, and fallen trees that crushed exhibits were removed by hand.
Meanwhile, every single animal continued to receive fresh water, their daily diets, and enrichment items to distract and calm them from the storm. Thankfully, all of our animals and staff are safe!
As Elmwood Park Zoo emerges from another devastating storm, we greatly appreciate any contribution you can make to our Champion Fund. Each donation goes a long way in supporting the daily care of our animals, and will certainly help expedite our recovery! elmwoodparkzoo.org/fund
