LANGHORNE, Pa. (CBS) -- Officials today cut the ribbon on a multimillion-dollar renovation to a Bucks County hospital.
The ribbon was cut and the new emergency room entrance was opened at St. Mary Medical Center in Langhorne.
This phase two of the multi-year project includes a new layout with additional beds, a new entrance, extra car lanes, and an improved lobby for patients and their families.
"We expanded our emergency department to go from being able to see 70,000 patients to about 102,000," notes Charles Kunkle (right), administrative director of critical care and emergency services at St. Mary. "What the process is, with the new building, is to get the patient to a physician quicker."
The three-phase, $22-million expansion and renovation should be complete by the end of the summer.
