Springsteen To Set Milestone In Philadelphia Over Labor Day Weekend
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Bruce Springsteen is coming to Philadelphia again but this time, he'll be doing something nobody else has ever done before.
When Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band come to perform at Citizens Bank Park on September 3-4, they'll become the first live act to perform in every possible major live venue in Philadelphia.
Springsteen and the E Street band will be completing the cycle on Labor Day weekend at the home of the Phillies, capping off what they started back in 1973.
Their first live performance at a major venue in Philadelphia was on June 6, 1973 at the Spectrum where they went on to perform a total of 36 times over the years.
They have also performed at the Wells Fargo Center 11 times, Lincoln Financial Field three times, twice at Veterans Stadium and once at JFK Stadium.
Springsteen also performed by himself several times in Philadelphia, playing nine times at the Tower Theater and once with his friend Joe Grushecky at the storied Electric Factory in October of 2005.
Surprisingly, this won't be the first time Springsteen accomplishes an unprecedented feat in Philadelphia. In September of 1999, the New Jersey native made music history when his tour traveled a distance of 758-feet, nine-and-a-half inches in less than one day from the Spectrum to the Wells Fargo Center to perform on back-to-back nights.
