Legions Of Springsteen Fans Spend Time With The Boss In Philly
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - A line of people snaked around the 'Streets of Philadelphia' -- or at least around the Parkway -- for some face time with Bruce Springsteen.
It was a sold-out photo-op Thursday at the Free Library to promote The Boss' new autobiography, 'Born To Run.'
"All of his songs, they're so meaningful, and speak to people in different ways," Ben tells KYW Newsradio.
His mom brought him from the DC suburbs, just to play Springsteen songs on his alto sax for fans who snagged a ticket.
Fans Like Matt and Brooke, who came all the way from Chicago
"I reached for his hand, but then I let go," says Brooke. "Why did I let go?!"
Some, like Barb from Downingtown, were luckier…
"He gave me a kiss on the cheek."
It was a nice 50th birthday gift for Barb, who broke her hip.
"I had to get three pins put in it. I was on a walker trying to get up, he literally -- he's coming out to me, helping get me up on stage. Grabbing my arm and walking me up to get my picture taken."
For Pearl from the Poconos...
"Best day of my life, I can't even explain it."
She says cancer can't get her down, thanks to the rock star with the Human Touch:
"He helped me up, he told me to be strong, be fighting, I told him thank you, every time I get a chemo treatment, I'm not thinking of a chemo treatment, I'm at a Springsteen concert."
