Spike Eskin: Since The Eagles Last Win ...
By Spike Eskin
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – It was pretty amazing the first time you heard or read it.
"The Phillies have won more recently than the Eagles."
Thousands of Facebook status updates and tweets later, it's a lot less amazing and a lot more annoying. So much so that even though the fact still holds true on DECEMBER 3rd, it goes in one ear and out the other.
Since we're desensitized to that one, I figured I'd put together a new list that you can impress (or annoy) your friends with. The Eagles actually last won on the same weekend the regular NFL refs came back, so maybe that's the problem.
Since the Eagles last won a game, September 30th 2012 ...
There have been 126 NFL games (one tie).
The Kansas City Chiefs have won a game.
The Carolina Panthers have won a game.
The Oakland Raiders have won a game.
The Tennessee Titans have actually won a couple of games.
The Toronto Argonauts won the 100th Grey Cup.
Barack Obama was elected to a second term as United States President.
There have been 244 games played in the NBA.
The Sixers have won ten of those games.
Jrue Holiday has recorded 158 assists.
Jrue Holiday has even blocked eight shots.
Andrew Bynum was scheduled to practice, then not to practice, then to practice, then not to practice, then injured himself bowling, and now isn't scheduled to do anything.
The San Francisco Giants won the World Series.
The Phillies almost traded for Wilton Lopez.
The NHL still hasn't played a game, so there's that.
Five different Eagles have done something stupid on Twitter (Michael Vick, Riley Cooper, Jason Babin, LeSean McCoy, DeSean Jackson).
Four different Eagles employees have been fired, one Jason Babin has been released (well they did something right).
Former Eagles offensive lineman Jon Runyan was re-elected to Congress.
Chris Berman, Jon Gruden, Mike Ditka and Al Michaels have all assured us that we'll miss Andy Reid when he's gone.
Michael Barkann has hosted over six thousand television and radio programs.
Angelo Cataldi has demanded Reid be fired over ten thousand times.
A movie about Eagles football has received more critical acclaim than the actual team has.
And yes, the Phillies have still won more recently.
And yet, we're all still here.
