SPCA Rescues At Least 5 Dogs From Suspected Dog Fighting Ring In Philadelphia
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – The Pennsylvania SPCA says they busted a dog fighting ring Saturday in the Lawndale neighborhood of Philadelphia.
According to SPCA officials, the operation was located on the 300 block of Van Kirk Street.
The SPCA says at least five dogs have been rescued. A ring and other dog fighting equipment was seized from the property.
The dogs are receiving medical treatment.
"A few of them are a bit under weight, but for the most part the animals appear to be in pretty decent condition, but they were all living in unsanitary conditions," George Bengal with the PSPCA said.
Police arrested one man who lived in that house. He told Eyewitness News that he was not running a dog fighting operation.
Authorities say this location has been on their radar for the last four years.
