SPCA Finds 13 Dead and Ill Pets In And Around Kensington Home
By Kim Glovas
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The Pennsylvania SPCA is looking for the owners of more than a half-dozen dogs and other animals found dead or in poor health in a Kensington home today.
The SPCA inspected a home near the intersection of Cornwall and Kensington Avenues in Kensington and saw at least three dead dogs in the backyard. The agency obtained a search warrant and, just after noon, entered the property.
"We recovered four turtles that were not in good condition, one gecko, one fish, and when we went to the rear yard we recovered one live dog, and we found the three dead dogs we had originally seen," says George Bengal, director of law enforcement for the SPCA. "Plus we found three more dead dogs."
Bengal says the dogs were all pit bulls.
Bengal says there was one man upstairs who fled the house as the team went into the backyard. The PSPCA will now try to find out who owned the animals and bring charges against them.
