South Philly Shootout Leaves 1 Alleged Gunman Hospitalized, 1 At Large
By Al Novack
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Police this morning were looking of one of two gunmen who were shooting at each other near 15th and Christian Streets in South Philadelphia just before 9am.
The other gunman, a 36-year-old man whose identity was not immediately released, is hospitalized at Hahnemann University Hospital in stable condition with bullet wounds of the hip and side.
Because the second gunman remained at large somewhere in the neighborhood, the nearby EM Stanton Elementary School, at 17th and Christian Streets, was put in a precautionary lockdown while police searched the area for the suspect.
Classes for the 200 students, K through 8, were reported to be proceeding normally with no problems at the school.
