South Philadelphia Mother Fights To Find Daughter's Killer
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- A South Philadelphia family continues to search for a killer, one year after Theresa Pozzi died.
December 23rd will mark one year since she was hit and killed while visiting a friend.
Despite a reward and surveillance video, there is still a suspect on the run from authorities.
"People say as time goes on it gets easier. That's not true," Theresa's mother, Anna Pozzi told Eyewitness News.
Pozzi insists she'll never be able to get over her daughter's death.
"She's not coming home anymore. The anger gets stronger," Pozzi said.
Theresa grew up on Kimball Street in South Philadelphia, and thanks to a wish and the help of an Italian woman named Simonetta Lein, the street will soon also be known as "Theresa's Way."
"There are people that care about her, her family and her daughter, and her daughter to me is like an angel," Simonetta Lein told Eyewitness News.
Lein moved to Philadelphia from Italy earlier this year.
She runs an organization called The Wish Wall, and met the Pozzi family during Pope Francis' visit. Lein organized the street renaming and billboard in honor of Theresa.
"Everybody will remember her. Remember the beautiful person that she was. That was worth it," Lein said.
There is a $15,000 reward from police, family and friends, leading to the arrest and conviction of Theresa's killer.
Anna Pozzi has a good feeling justice will eventually be served. She and Lein both pledged to stay on the case.
"I feel like this person is laughing in my face. I feel like they're saying, 'Haha, you didn't catch me yet,' but I will," Pozzi said.
