South Jersey Woman Gets Prison After Striking College Students In 4th DUI
WOODBURY, N.J. (AP) — A southern New Jersey woman who hit three Rowan University students while driving drunk has been sentenced to more than seven years in prison.
Kelli Hennessey, of Franklin Township, was sentenced on Friday to 90 months in prison. It was her fourth drunk driving conviction.
She was convicted in July of assault by auto after hitting the three students who were crossing the street in Glassboro in November 2011. The students suffered leg injuries, and one suffered a broken collarbone.
Hennessey testified that an acquaintance was driving the car and fled after the crash, but an officer testified that she admitted at the scene that she was driving the Ford Taurus.
Her blood alcohol level was .13 percent. The state's legal limit is .08 percent.
