South Jersey Man Gets 7 Years For DUI Death of Bicyclist

BROOKLAWN, N.J. (CBS) -- The sentence is seven years behind bars for a 40-year-old Deptford, NJ man who admitted to the drunk-driving death of a woman riding her bicycle in Brooklawn a year and a half ago.
Daniel Stocklin and his mother offered apologies to the family of the victim, 39-year-old Cecilia Harrop, before sentence was imposed as part of his guilty plea to vehicular homicide.
Assistant Camden County prosecutor Ira Slovin notes that Stocklin was driving on a busy road on a weekday afternoon and was more than just a little tipsy.
"He had a 0.246 blood alcohol level," Slovin notes, "and of course in the State of New Jersey the legal limit is 0.08. And he had, therefore, over three times the legal limit." Which, Slovin suggests, would leave most people unable to walk much less drive.
