South Jersey Man Arrested For Attacking Cops After Calling 911

GLOUCESTER TOWNSHIP, N.J. (CBS) – Police in Gloucester Township say four of their officers were assaulted when responding to a 911 call that came in just before 8 p.m. Sunday from a home in the LaCascata Housing Development.
And police say 28-year-old Ibrahim Dao, now charged with the assaults, is the man who made two 911 calls to police during a dispute with his girlfriend.
On the phone, a 911 operator can be heard asking Dao what his emergency is.
"She's acting strange," Dao says. "I don't know, could somebody just come here?"
When officers arrived at the scene after the call, they encountered a male, identified as Dao, standing on a stair case, sweating profusely and appearing upset and disoriented.
Authorities say Dao was yelling incoherently at the officers and was believed to be under the influence of a narcotic and in an altered state of mind. He displayed abnormal strength as he picked up one officer into the air and slammed him into a kitchen table.
Another officer used pepper spray on Dao, which had no effect on him as he continued to violently resist arrest and fight with the officers.
Dao continued to physically assault numerous officers until he was eventually handcuffed. Even after being handcuffed, police say Dao continued to attempt to assault the officers with his feet and shoulders.
Dao was taken to a local hospital for medical treatment. After receiving treatment, Dao was taken to the Gloucester Township Police Department and criminally charged with aggravated assault on an officer resulting in injury, aggravated assault on an officer (3 counts), resisting arrest and obstruction.
Dao's girlfriend, Keisha Harrison, denies he went after the officers.
"They maced him, they tased him and they beat him with sticks. The way they did him – I didn't like it. But they had to restrain him," she says.
She also says Dao wasn't on drugs, but that he came back from a trip to the store acting out of sorts.
One officer was treated for a hand injury at an area hospital and was later released. No other officers were injured during the incident, though several were overcome by pepper spray.
The police captain says Dao was not tased.
Dao is currently being held at the Camden County Correctional Facility on $35,000 cash bail.
