South Jersey Man Allegedly Sent Child Porn To Undercover Agent Posing As Mother Of 11-Year-Old Girl
TRENTON, NJ (CBS) -- Acting Attorney General John J. Hoffman announced a South Jersey man has been indicted on charges that he allegedly sent about 75 images and videos of child pornography to an undercover federal agent posing as a mother of an 11-year-old girl.
Officials say the man sent the images with the belief the "mother" would set up a webcam sex show in which her 11-year-old daughter would perform oral sex on her father.
Authorities say the Division of Criminal Justice Financial & Computer Crimes Bureau yesterday obtained a grand jury indictment charging Andrew Derrickson, 50, of Lindenwold, with second-degree crimes of attempted aggravated sexual assault of a child under 13, attempted manufacturing of child pornography, distribution of child pornography (two counts) and storing or maintaining child pornography using a file-sharing program.
Officials say he is also charged with third-degree possession of child pornography.
Authorities say the investigation began in early 2014 when Homeland Security Investigations began an investigation of individuals using chat rooms to exchange child porn.
Officials say Derrickson allegedly communicated with a special agent of HSI who posed as a mother with an 11-year-old daughter. Authorities say during that chat Derrickson allegedly agreed to send child pornography in exchange for the "mother" to set up a webcam show of her daughter performing oral sex on her dad.
"Although Derrickson was dealing with an undercover agent, this case starkly illustrates how offenders who view and share child pornography online are constantly seeking new materials and, in doing so, are willing to motivate the sexual abuse of new victims in a very direct way," says Acting Attorney General Hoffman.
Authorities say a forensic examination of Derrickson's computer found approximately 227 images and 925 videos of suspected child pornography. Furthermore, authorities say all of the videos and a majority of the images were allegedly in a "shared folder" where they were available for other users to download using a file-sharing software.
Authorities say Derrickson remains in the Camden County Jail with bail set at $100,000.
