South Jersey Firm Finds Bald Is Profitable As It Sells Skull Shaver Electric Razor
By John Ostapkovich
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Anyone who believes that bald is beautiful can use a Mount Holly, New Jersey company's patented electric shaver to get all the way to chrome dome status.
John Lyles, one of the founders of Skull Shaver, had trouble keeping his head absolutely shaved while he was on the road. After he couldn't find an acceptable electric shaver, he created his own, with five swiveling rotary shaving heads.
It can also be used on the face, says Skull Shaver president Neel Kulshreshthma, who says recent publicity has created a spike in sales.
"It's surpassing our wildest dreams right now," he says. "We know that the problem is, whatever supply we have, hopefully it will last a few days. We'll be lucky if it lasts one month and the lead time for manufacturing, shipping can take two months."
The Skull Shaver is currently on Amazon, and Kulshreshthma says it could be in some big box stores in a matter of months.
