South Jersey 'Extreme' Chef Making Thanksgiving Meals For Hurricane Sandy Victims

EGG HARBOR TOWNSHIP, N.J. (CBS) -- A local celebrity chef is using his talents this Thanksgiving to help victims of Hurricane Sandy.
Chef Terry French, winner of the Food Network's show "Extreme Chef," will be spending his Thanksgiving this year in New York.
The Egg Harbor Township, NJ resident says his community was affected by the superstorm but wasn't hard hit, and he wants to help others who weren't as fortunate.
"In a situation like this -- a disaster -- who's better than extreme chefs to go into a disaster area and set up a kitchen and make sure people are fed?" he tells KYW Newsradio. "We know how to make it happen, because we know how to build a kitchen."
(Kuznits:) "So you might be setting up a kitchen in a field, in a parking lot, in an open space?"
(French:) "That's what I've done -- and that's what I'll do again!"
Chef French says he'll be cooking at home and driving up to the Rockaways before the holiday.
"I'm trying to commandeer as many turkeys as possible throughout this weekend, and then I'll probably start it on Tuesday, cooking as many birds as I possibly can to take up to the Rockaways."
