South Jersey Couple, Winners of $22 Million in Lottery, Want To Be Left Alone

MAYS LANDING, N.J. (CBS) -- A Mays Landing couple is asking to be left alone after claiming a $30-million jackpot yesterday in the multi-state Mega Millions lottery.
Darryl and Judy Smith bought their winning ticket at a truck stop in Buena, NJ. They sat on that ticket for almost two months before showing up yesterday, with their lawyers, at New Jersey Lottery headquarters to claim the cash option: $22 million, less taxes.
Lottery spokeswoman Judith Drucker says the Smiths have a definite plan:
"They want to continue their lives as they currently live them -- quietly -- and they both plan on continuing to work at their jobs, although I don't know what they do."
Their only public statement was in a press release that said, "We are thankful for the blessing and the opportunities that it opens up for us. We would greatly appreciate that our privacy be respected."
