MOUNT LAUREL, Nj. (CBS) -- Mount Laurel Township began a 24-hour donation drive on Thursday for victims of Hurricane Sandy.
Donations at Mount Laurel Township Fire Department along Elbo Lane began pouring in at 6 a.m.
"The whole township got together and stepped up to the plate," says Fire Department Captain Chris Santone. "It was short notice for this. We put this together in under 36 hours."
Santone says they quickly filled one tractor-trailer and had to bring in another, all because of an overwhelming response from the Mount Laurel community.
Anthony Faffy and his father spent $100 at the Dollar Store, and then packed their car with blankets, gloves and boots.
"I can't give thousands of dollars," Faffy says. "but I had to do something physically to do some type of service and really make a difference. And it's putting a smile on my face, even a few tears are coming out."
