Former South Jersey Beauty Queen Found Dead In New York City

By Jan Carabeo

NEW YORK, NY (CBS) -- A wife, a mother, a doctor, and a former South Jersey beauty queen, Kiersten Cerveny seemed to have it all.

Now investigators in New York are trying to determine how she ended up unconscious and dying in the doorway of a building in Chelsea.

The crime scene unit had scoured 223 West 16th Street for clues.

Police found the 38-year-old's body Sunday night.

Investigators say Cerveny had been spending a night out on the town with friends.

One of those friends told police the doctor had been doing drugs and drinking.

Sources say she eventually met up with a man at a Lower East Side bar and later left with that man to come to this home in Chelsea where a second man lives.

Sources say surveillance video captured both men carrying Cerveny's body toward the building's front door.

One man called 9-1-1, but both left before police arrived.

The scene has left neighbors stunned.

According to sources, Cerveny and the man at the bar may have been involved romantically.

The man they visited at the apartment was a dealer and sources say Cerveny and the man went there trying to score more cocaine.

Cerveny's autopsy is complete, but police are still awaiting toxicology results. They are not investigating her case as a homicide. Sources say her death is consistent with a cocaine overdose.
