DA: Upper Southampton Officer Died Of Self-Inflicted Gunshot Wound
UPPER SOUTHAMPTON, Pa. (CBS) - Officials say a police officer who was found unresponsive in his cruiser outside a Bucks County church early Friday morning died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
The officer was found by a passerby at about 8:30 a.m. in the parking lot of the Jesus Focus Ministry on Bristol Road in Upper Southampton.
"We walked over and noticed that he was slumped over in his seat and the guy I work with saw a shotgun between his legs," said the passerby, who asked to not be identified.
Another officer responding to the scene suffered a heart attack and was taken to St. Mary Medical Center in Langhorne. The officer, identified as Police Chief Nick Rosato from neighboring Ivyland, is in stable condition.
The identity of the deceased officer has not been released pending notification of his family.
