Sources: Collins Will Not Return As Sixers Head Coach Next Season

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Doug Collins is out as head coach of the Philadelphia 76ers.
Sources confirm to Eyewitness News/CBS Philly that Collins has informed the team that he will not return next season.
94WIP's Howard Eskin reports that Collins and the Sixers are working out a settlement that will allow Collins to leave the head coach position after the season. Collins would remain with the team in some capacity, but would be allowed to work on television as an analyst, but not for another NBA team. Eskin reports that settlement should be completed on Monday night.
The news was first reported Sunday night by Yahoo's Adrian Wojnarowski. It came just hours after the team's 91-77 win against the Cleveland Cavaliers, and after John Langel, Collins' agent and longtime friend, said he fully expected Collins to be back next season.
"He's here for another year, at least,'' Langel said.
There has been no official word from the team or from Collins about his resignation.
Collins is 108-119 in three seasons as Sixers head coach. He led the team to the playoffs in each of his first two seasons, which included a first-round upset of the top-seeded Chicago Bulls last year.
The Sixers are in Detroit for Monday night's game with the Pistons. The team will close out the regular season Wednesday night against the Pacers in Indiana in what now appears to be Collins' final game as head coach.
