Some Veterans Spend The Day Looking For A Job
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Many Veterans spent this Veterans Day looking for jobs. A job expo was held especially for members of the military and their spouses at Lincoln Financial Field on Veterans Day.
The four-hour job fair attracted hundreds of veterans hungry for work.
One veteran and job-seeker says, "To be honest, I'm lookin' for a good job and lookin' to work hard and do good at that job."
Another job-seeker says, "I've been in and out of work for about two years now. So it's kinda tough out there, tryin' to find something full time. A lot of part time stuff available but nothin full time."
Coleen Hunter, a recruiter for TD Bank was looking to hire tellers and customer service representatives.
"We have a lot of open positions within the area," Hunter says. "We're directing everyone to go on our website and apply and hopefully people will do that."
Hunter was among roughly 40 vendors brought to the Linc by John Lundberg of Recruit Military.
Lundberg says, "I think with today's employment situation, there are jobs out there. I think companies are very picky in terms of who they want to hire. They want to hire the very best people."
A large number university reps were also on hand, recruiting and answering queistions about educational opportunities.
