Some Philadelphia Kids Share Art Class With a Circus Elephant in Center City

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Some Philadelphia schoolkids got an art lesson today, in the park -- from an elephant!
Kelly Anne the circus elephant was brought to Franklin Square as a special guest during an art session for some lucky children.
With the Ringling Bros. circus now appearing at the Wells Fargo Center, Cody Snider with Comcast-Spectacor says it's not every day you get to see an elephant in the city, let alone one who can paint.
"They laid out all the paint below, by her feet, and then she wraps her trunk around the brush itself and then she just dips it in there," she tells KYW Newsradio. "And it's abstract, quote-unquote," he adds by way of clarification.

Some kids were brought to the park for this art project following a circus performance they saw. They watched the elephant paint, then they painted portraits of the elephant.
"And the elephant did some tricks for them as well," says Snider. "It stood forward so they could get pictures, and it did a little bow."
The circus is in Philadelphia through Monday.
