Social Service Agency Opening Elder Day-Care Facility in NE Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The need for adult day care is growing in Pennsylvania, and a new facility will open in Northeast Philadelphia this month.
As the population ages the need for elder care becomes more important, according to Carol Irvine, CEO and president of the Abramson Center for Jewish Life, in Montgomery County.
"There's not enough nursing home beds to take care of everyone and, quite frankly, I'm not sure how many people want to be cared for in a nursing home," she says, "so this program will really enable individuals to avoid or delay a nursing home stay."
The new Abramson Adult Day Care Center will be able to handle up to 100 clients a day, six days a week, offering help with such tasks as bathing, eating, dressing, and physical and mental rehabilitation.
