Social Network Gives Marketers A Blank Canvas For Instant, Interactive Ads

By Melony Roy

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Facebook has developed a new way to give advertisers a way to reach people without making them leave the social network.

Facebook has announced a major update to the way its mobile users see ads.

The social network is rolling out interactive mobile ads called "Canvas".

When users click a Facebook News Feed ad connected to Canvas, it opens a full-screen, rich media page inside of Facebook rather than forcing users to wait for a mobile website to load.

The social network is making sure the ads are easy to make. They're built through a web interface with real-time live preview and no coding or design skills are necessary.

Canvas is available now to advertisers and says big brands like Macy's, BMW, and Target are already using the platform.
