Social Media Today: Oscars Retweets, Interns, Ask.FM

Oscars brake Twitter and set a record

More than 14.7 million tweets about the Oscars were sent around the world. Host Ellen DeGeneres star-studded "selfie" caused Twitter to crash Sunday night but later became Twitter's most retweeted tweet of all time with over 2.6 million.

 

 

Taking the top spot from Barack Obama's victory photo in November 2012 which was retweeted almost 800,000 times.

Social media companies make Glassdoor's latest list

 

Twitter finished third in Glassdoor's list of the 25 highest-paying companies for interns. The average monthly base pay for an intern at Twitter is $6,791, followed by LinkedIn with $6,230 and Facebook with $6,213.

Ask.FM is growing

The social network,  Ask.fm, has announced it has 100 million registered users. The service is used in 150 countries and questions posted there now generate a billion answers a month. Even though you don't have to be registered to use it, Ask.fm also says it gets 190 million unique visitors each month.
