Social Media Today: Facebook Messaging, Spotify Equalizer, Tweet-A-Coke

By Melony Roy

Facebook ends mobile messaging on its main app

The final phaseout of mobile messaging through Facebook's main app has begun.

Now, if users want to chat on Facebook, they'll have to download the standalone Messenger app.

The social network has been beefing up its Messenger app by adding new features like ways to send photos and videos, have group conversations, and post animated stickers.

Spotify adds equalizer

Following yesterday's Beats Music update, Spotify has also refreshed its iOS app.

The music streaming service has added an equalizer feature that offers 22 audio presets, including classical, acoustic and hip-hop among other options. Users can now also manually define their own equalizer settings within the app.

Spotify also updated the Artist page on the iPad to include information on the artist's latest releases and associated merchandise. The Discover feature also moved on the iPhone to the Browse section of the app.

Tweet-A-Coke

Coca-Cola has begun letting friends send Cokes to each other thru Twitter.

The "Tweet-A-Coke" promotion allows Twitter users to tweet a link to a friend that, once opened, lets them order a Coke at participating Regal Cinemas locations.

You have to authenticate your Twitter account and enter your credit card info in order to send a coke. The gifts are in $5 increments but you can send as many as you like.

This promotion is similar to one Starbucks launched last October.
