Social Media Network Launches App For Video Blogging

By Social Media Editor Melony Roy

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – It's already being called the "Instagram for video," letting users share six second video clips.

The popular micro-blogging service, Twitter, launched a secondary app called Vine, a free mobile service that captures and creates short looping videos.
But what makes Vine so hot?

"Vine is great because it lets you tell a story in six seconds. Not many users will be compelled to upload full length videos to YouTube, but it's much easier and much more convenient for users to start sharing video," says CNET senior associate editor Sharon Vaknin.

The technology itself is not new. Already there are apps called Viddy, SocialCam & Cinemagram, but it is presented in a creative new way.

"What's unique about Vine is that you can actually cut within that 6 second block. So, for example, you might do two seconds of making a salad and another two seconds of your kid until you reach six seconds."
