Soccer: Union Hoping to Keep Dream Alive
HOUSTON, Tex. (CBS) -- After falling behind in goals, 2-1, to the Houston Dynamo with one leg of the MLS Eastern Conference semifinals in the books (see previous story), the Philadelphia Union will look to stay alive tonight as the second and final leg gets underway in Houston.
The team that scores the most goals in both matches combined advances, so Philadelphia is in the hole as this one starts.
But Houston has been good to the Union during its brief existence. Last season Philadelphia picked up its first-ever road win at Robertson Stadium, 3-2, and this year they opened the campaign with a 1-0 win in Texas, riding a Danny Califf goal to victory.
The winner of this Philadelphia-Houston semifinal will advance to face Sporting Kansas City in the Eastern Conference finals. KC eliminated Colorado 4-nil on aggregate in their semifinal series.
KYW's Matt Leon spoke with Marc Narducci, who covers the Union for the Philadelphia Inquirer, about the matchup and what to expect tonight.
