Snow Totals And When It Will End
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The end is near as dry air is set to push in across the area from northwest to southeast overnight. Heavy snow to continue to impact parts of the area for the next few hours but falling snow will taper off in Center City Philadelphia as midnight nears.
Travel conditions to remain treacherous overnight as gusty winds to 40 mph will yield blowing and drifting snow and thus greatly reduced visibilities. Additionally, temperatures in the 20's will create icy conditions.
An incredible winter storm, the snowfall total in Philadelphia as of 7pm, stands at 20.8"! That is just 1.6" shy of the normal snowfall for an entire SEASON in Philadelphia. If a mere 0.2" of snow is tacked onto the final total over the next few hours, winter storm 2016 will rank in the top 5 for all time snowstorms!
A 'snow-way' worthy 30.0" of snowfall in Allentown accumulated in 24 hours—that's also nearly the average total for the entire season and is now the biggest of all one or two day snowstorms in Allentown on record!
And many across the area will be shoveling out of two feet snowfalls.
