More Snow Possible For Some Of Our Area

PHILADELPHIA (CBS)--The core of the arctic air mass has settled into the Delaware Valley today. It wasn't record cold but low temperatures did get down into the single digits in the suburbs and 12 degrees in Philadelphia. There is some good news, the wind is not as strong with this arctic blast. Wind chill values are got down to around zero and slightly below zero at times. Much better than the -15 to -20 wind chills during the arctic blast three weeks ago. This looks like to be the last arctic blast for awhile as the weather pattern will be changing a bit with temperatures climbing back to near average this weekend.
The arctic air has made its way all the way down to the deep south, allowing for a storm to develop off the southeastern coast and track northeast. The will bring a rare 6-12" of snow for eastern North Carolina. Recent forecast guidance trends has shifted the storm track farther west, brushing southern NJ & DE with some snow.
A winter weather advisory is in effect for Atlantic, Cape May and Sussex, DE counties for this evening until early Wed AM. The potential for 1-3" of snow is expected for extreme southern NJ and DE with some 4" amounts possible right along the coast, especially in Sussex county, DE. A coating to 1" is possible in parts of Salem, Camden and Gloucester, and Kent counties. Some light snow is possible as far north as Philly, depending on how far west the snow can fall into the very dry air mass. If a more westward trend in the track continues, amounts will be higher and shifted farther northwest. The snow should begin to arrive after 7pm tonight and end before daybreak Wednesday. Temperatures will be in the teens so snow covered roads are expected.
