Snow, Freezing Rain Slow Commute Across Tri-State
PHILADELPHIA (CBS/AP) -- Overnight snow followed by freezing rain is making streets and sidewalks treacherous across the Tri-State region.
Commuters heading out early found their cars and driveways covered in a coating of ice. In Center City, the roads and sidewalks were a slushy mix. Residents of the Lehigh Valley and Poconos awoke to snow, and in southern New Jersey, where temperatures are above freezing, mostly rain fell.

PennDOT and NJ Department of Transportation has plows and salt spreaders on the highways and recommend drivers to reduce speed and stay at least six car lengths behind those trucks. Speed restrictions were also posted along parts of the New Jersey Turnpike.

Travelers are advised to check with their airlines for delays before heading out the door.
All drivers are urged to use caution.
SEPTA regional rails suffered few setbacks during the wintery weather this morning.
Most lines had only minor delays -- except for the Lansdale-Doylestown and Paoli-Thorndale lines. One woman said she was stuck on a platform for almost an hour waiting for her train.
While the riders of the former-R5 trains were upset about their service, John was boarding an on-time train to Conshocken. He says no surprise it was on time:
"Actually, no. When it snowed the other day there were no delays that day either, so they've been pretty good with that lately."
One thing everyone agreed on: the parking lots, platforms, and steps were pretty slippery with the icy mix this morning.
