RIDLEY TOWNSHIP, Pa. (CBS) - Police in Ridley Township continue to investigate a Sunday shooting that left a snake dealer hospitalized. Authorities have not determined if the shooting was the result of a soured deal or a coincidental carjacking.
Police say a Doylestown man who was supposed to sell some 20 python snakes worth about $12,000 to a New York man is in stable condition at Crozier Chester Medical Center after being shot Sunday in the parking lot of the Woodlyn Shopping Center.
His car with the snakes inside was stolen and later recovered after being involved in an accident near Second and Edgewood Streets.
A police spokesman says the New York snake buyer hasn't been found yet and detectives have yet to question the victim at length.
Detectives say it's quite possible the snake dealer's car may have been the target of a random carjacker before the snake buyer arrived, and that the dealer may have simply been in the wrong place at the wrong time.
