Pilot Injured In Atlantic County Banner Plane Crash
EGG HARBOR Twp., N.J. (CBS) -- A small plane crashed in Atlantic County Tuesday afternoon and emergency personnel worked to free the pilot who was trapped inside.
According to police, the banner plane went down at about 2:56 p.m. in a small grass airfield off Steelmanville Road in the Scullville section of Egg Harbor Township.
Authorities say Jason Flood, 20, of Franklinville, was piloting the plane and attempting to pick up a banner when it crashed. Authorities say either Flood lost control of the aircraft or experienced a mechanical problem that caused the plane to go down in an area of dense brush.
Flood suffered serious injuries and was air lifted to the trauma Center at AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center.
The cause of the crash is under investigation by the Egg Harbor Township Police Department and the Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board.
