Slain Plymouth Township Officer's Canine May Go To His Family

NORRISTOWN, Pa. (CBS) - The district attorney in Montgomery County says they are working to reunite murdered Plymouth Township officer Brad Fox's K-9 partner with the officer's family.
The canine, Nick, was by Officer Fox's side the day he was shot and killed chasing a hit and run suspect in Plymouth Township.
The dog suffered a graze wound and continues to recover.
The suspect, Andrew Thomas, shot and killed himself, according to authorities. Now, District Attorney Risa Ferman says she's hoping to reunite the dog with Fox's pregnant wife and their young daughter.
"Nick was actually purchased by the county through homeland security funds and our county commissioners have been working through the paperwork that needs to be done and cutting through some red tape," she said.
If all goes well, she says the dog would go back to the Plymouth Police Department and then he would be reunited with the Fox family.
