Sixers Waive Four Including White, Wyatt

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – The Sixers waived four players, and are within one more cut of reaching the roster limit of 15 players, the team announced today.

Temple product Khalif Wyatt, Vander Blue, Mac Koshwal, and former first round pick Royce White, who the Sixers obtained from the Houston Rockets this offseason were all cut on Thursday.

Wyatt's playing time during the preseason may have been an indication that he didn't have much of a chance to make the team. After leading the Sixers in scoring in the Orlando Summer League, Wyatt saw limited playing time in the Sixers preseason games.

Cutting both Wyatt and Vander Blue is somewhat of a surprise, as a roster spot was thought to go to one of the two. The recent increase in playing time for Georgetown product Hollis Thompson suggests that he may have played his way on to the team.

Royce White is perhaps the biggest surprise, who showed some flashes of the talent that made him a first round pick two years ago by the Rockets. However, the combination of his being out of shape, his issues with travel, and limited current NBA skill set probably were too much for the Sixers to want to invest further in White.

Some of the four released may receive invites to play for the Sixers NBA D-League team in Delaware.

According to a report from Eliot-Shorr Parks of NJ.COM, the Sixers have used their D-League tag on Wyatt, so if he were to play in the D-League, it would have to be for the 87ers.
