Sixers' Jordan McRae Signs To Play In Australia
By Ray Boyd
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Jordan McRae made himself very relevant, very quickly to fans of the Sixers. The team acquired the Tennessee product on draft night after he was selected 58th overall by the San Antonio Spurs. McRae has signed a contract to play for Melbourne United in Australia.
The move draws into question whether or not the promising looking player will take the court for the Sixers this season. McRae came into Summer League and led the Sixers in scoring averaging 21 points per game in Las Vegas.
McRae's scoring touch and size make him a very interesting prospect and Sixers fans may now have to start following Melbourne United to keep an eye on McRae's progress. With that said, there is still hope. Second round picks do not have the security of first round selections so this could just be a fall back plan for McRae as he waits for the Sixers to sign him to a contract, which obviously has not occurred to this point.
Terms of McRae's contract with Melbourne United have not been announced, but he does have an NBA release clause in his deal that will allow him to return to the NBA upon completion of a contract with the Sixers.
