Single Father From Montgomery County Aims To Get More Men Involved In Their Children's Lives
CHELTENHAM, Pa. (CBS) - A single father from Cheltenham is on a mission to get more men involved in the lives of their children by hosting a special Father's Day event on Sunday.
Vaughn Tinsley is a divorced, single father of a young son. He says he's concerned about the next generation, his son's generation, because many of the children are not getting the attention they need from their fathers. He says, frankly, a lot of fathers are "asleep at the switch."
"They need to wake up and get rid of the zzzz's. We need to show these fathers what they need to do and what's important. What the kids cherish is the time and the physical embrace and that's not happening," said Tinsley.
Tinsley has created Founding Fatherz, a mentoring group designed to get fathers back into the raising game. A special Father's Day event is happening Sunday from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the LaMont Community Center in Cheltenham.
