Shorthanded Flyers Try Again For First Win
By Matt Leon
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – The Flyers will try, once again, to notch that first victory of this lockout-shortened season tonight as they host the New York Rangers.
Philadelphia sits at 0-3 on the season and they have scored just three goals in those three games.
They will also be trying to do something tonight they haven't done in quite sometime and that's beat the Rangers. The Flyers went 0-6 against New York last season and they have lost eight in a row to them overall.
Adding to the problems is the fact that the Flyers will be without two keys pieces. Forward Scott Hartnell is out indefinitely with a foot injury. Forward Brayden Schenn will sit out tonight as he serves a one-game suspension. The team has already been without forward Danny Briere all season long as he recovers from a wrist injury.
The Rangers are 1-2 in the early going, they picked up that first win last night, beating the Bruins, 4-3, in overtime.
