Shooting Victim Walks 6 Blocks To Hospital, Suspects In Custody

By Dan Wing

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Police apprehended two men believed to be involved with a shooting in the city's Wissanoming section Friday evening. The victim walked almost six-blocks to get help at a hospital.

A police spokeswoman says that the victim, a 26-year old man, walked into Aria Frankford Hospital with gunshot wounds to his chest and leg.

Once there he told authorities about the shooting that had just taken place near the intersection of Foulkrod and Tackawanna Streets.

His account, and witness reports put police on the lookout for a Green Ford Explorer seen fleeing the scene. Officers spotted the vehicle at Aramingo Avenue and Wakeling Street, and began a pursuit up I-95 that ended at the Academy Road and Linden Avenue Exit, where the suspects' vehicle crashed into a light pole.

The 2-men inside the vehicle tried to flee on foot, but were apprehended by police.

The victim is reportedly in stable condition, and has been transported to Aria Torresdale hospital.
