3 people shot in parking lot of Uno Pizzeria on Widener University's campus in Chester, Pennsylvania, police say
Three people were shot in the parking lot of an Uno Pizzeria in Chester, Pennsylvania, on Wednesday night, police said.
The shooting happened shortly after 10:30 p.m. on Providence Avenue. The Uno Pizzeria is on Widener University's campus.
Police said when officers got to the scene, they found three people with gunshot wounds.
A woman is in stable but serious condition at Christiana Hospital, and a man was treated and released from Christiana for his injuries, according to Chester police. A male juvenile was taken to Penn Presbyterian Hospital and is listed in stable condition as of Thursday morning, police said.
One resident told CBS News Philadelphia that just before the shooting, his friend called and told him there were dozens of people gathered in the parking lot.
"Within the next 15 minutes, I heard about seven, eight gunshots," Hanief Tillery said. "We kind of left the house to see what was going on, and I guess there was a bunch of people scattering. A bunch of cars pulling off."
"It's something that you would never want to happen, especially living so close to the area," he added. "You worry about the kids. You worry about the people who are out here who got hurt."
In a statement to CBS News Philadelphia, Widener University said, "Widener University is aware of the incident Wednesday night outside the Pizzeria Uno on Providence Avenue in Chester. City police are investigating and the university is fully cooperating with the department. All questions should be directed to law enforcement."
It's unclear what led to the shooting.
There is no word on any arrests.
