Shark Washes Ashore On Rehoboth Beach In Delaware
REHOBOTH BEACH, Del. (AP) — A Delaware man made a startling discovery when he hit the beach this week: a shark.
Colby Beaumont says he encountered a shark that washed ashore and made its way onto the sand on Rehoboth Beach on Friday.
He tells The News Journal of Wilmington that he tried to push the shark back into the water by prodding it with driftwood, but it was too heavy and didn't budge.
He says another person dragged the shark by the tail and got it back into the water. The shark was estimated to be 4 ½ feet-long.
Beaumont says a fisherman told him it looked like a sand tiger shark, but Delaware state scientists who reviewed photographs say they thought it looked like a smooth dogfish shark.
